Kristin's love of the under dog shines through again in this charming novel. Although it is written in prose it did not distract me from the story being told. I connected to the main character Kek right away. This would be a great read aloud for junior classes because it explains how it feels to be out of sync with the world around you and it allows student to understand some of the tragedies children face during a war without being too graphic.
