Half Brother
Kenneth Oppel
Harper Collins

This is a must have in your school library.  I really enjoyed the topic and I was also impressed that Kenneth Oppel wrote it in the past.  (There's a good reason that it had to be set in the past;)  The characters are very realistic and all of the characters are well developed unlike other books where the minor characters appear flat.  Although too long for a read aloud it is a great books that links really well to non-fiction texts and biomedical issues.  You can't not be an animal lover after reading this book.
